Picking up this month’s FF&FT magazine I was pleased to see and read Bruce Sandison’s article on the work that both we and our sister charity, the Wandle Trust, do here on the Wandle. FF&FT’s Mark Bowler and Bruce have been friends of the Wandle for some time.
Under his column entitled ‘Angling Club of the month’, which essentially focusses on Clubs that are actively working on improving their fishery, Bruce describes the river’s past and mentions some of the more famous fishermen that have fished from its banks, namely, Lord Nelson and Frederick Halford.
He then goes on to praise the work that we have done and which we continue to do on the Wandle and the fact that we have taken on Canon Hill lake and are now working closely with Merton Council in order to improve the fishery. Additionally, our monthly riverfly monitoring and expanding junior section get mentioned too.
